Dear Anne Frank..... you are loved.
Dear Anne Frank,
When I was a little girl my mother had many unresolved traumas which played out in her taking it out on us. If I cried, the punishment would be worse. Children living in that environment learn to hide and not cry. To be silent. To take it and never complain about it. To sit with all the confusion, pain, and the feeling of being unlovable. Everyone exposed to it is silent, an entire family, silent about the wars in their home.
I imagine that is how it felt for you. Abuse and being adaptable then goes hand in hand. It becomes a way of being, of existing.
Maybe that is what being a zombie is all about. Just walking through life not understanding there's more to living than our programming.
My generation are the children of yours.
Anne, sadly, were still crying the tears from the wreckage and hate that took your life, we are still traumatized and have those fears of monsters wearing the flesh of man. The pain keeps being handed down like a scarlet letter pinned to our hearts.
It was never about you Anne, the world has not stopped loving you - it was always about them and their trauma they never found the strength to stand up to and to heal from.
You are loved, Anne....still.
