The Heavens Were Crowded - Morning Coffee Thoughts.
When you were a kid, did you understand the concept of different faiths and religions? How could there be so many different kinds? And then those who claimed it was all nonsense but all around were lessons and symbols that there's more? It didn't make sense.
We'd say our pledge every morning, "One Nation Under God"
In unison, but around me back in Evanston at Central School, was a patchwork quilt of beliefs. I had a hard time understanding that and especially since prior to Central I had only attended Catholic Schools.
When you are young , it's all you know -your religion. I'd be standing there saying my pledge and wondering whose God were we pledging to... then once we started learning about Greek mythology...yikes - the heavens were crowded with Gods.
Maybe the problem is we treat God like they sit in an elected office. For some that's Mother Nature's job. For others, their God punishes, while another says they comfort and love. One person's identity is a sin to another's God, but for others a sign of uniqueness and life's precious bounty.
It really is confusing - isn't it? Perhaps we should stop viewing faith and who we pray to as a campaign for growth towards power and control over others. We've messed that up quite a bit in the last century - it's not a caucus.
Also, lets not try to say none of this matters when plastered all over the news the universe is screaming at us , it all matters because we're still learning, evolving, growing - and we have a long way to go.
Anyway - morning coffee thoughts- as always ignore typos
Be Well 💜💜💜
