Uhhh....SAY WHAT??? Justice in Juneau County

Tough week this week and it's only Wednesday. I spent the first part of the week sitting in the Clerk of Courts office..pouring over criminal files. I can't help it, but something is really bothering me about the Patrick Gage case, and it's more than he is a suspected child molester. It's that signature bond our District Attorney, Scott Southworth , advocated for.  I might understand defense counsel attempting to explain why there would be such a need....but the prosecutor? Especially when the guy is up on (5) counts of child sexual assault...(2) victims....over 7 years? As the prosecutor, Scott had to believe that Gage was guilty...after all his office pressed the charges. One would also expect that he, like most of us realize, once a child rapist...always a child rapist. These guys just don't wake up one morning and decide that they will rape a child...it's a progression - so if guilty, then most likely there have been other victims...and if not confin

Life with Kyle continues....

And is never a dull moment...and that is not an understatement. In between working, volunteering to help the homeless, looking for more work, helping to campaign for some strong women candidates, a recall effort to rid our local government of a DA out for his own political gain at tax payer's expense and trying to keep my sanity in the process.....there's summertime and Kyle. Justin, my oldest son, is so easy going that rarely is there drama. The only time there's drama with him is if there's no food in the house - which with the bottomless pit of a stomach the kid has it seems to be a never ending Catch 22. That kind of drama is easily handled... But... Then... There's Kyle.  Even through the health issues Kyle has had he is still my "on the go" kid. Imagine if you will a 12 year old boy...covered head to toe in mud and soaking wet from hunting tadpoles sitting on the living room couch with a guitar in his hands...strumming some new song he has taugh

Lend a Hand in ending a crisis

Last year the birth of Lend a Hand started with my ramblings in this blog and from an article I wrote for the Messenger of Juneau County You can see some of those ramblings here This morning I found myself needing to write an alert out to the community - as I wrote it I thought about the people in the gulf and what they too must be going through - it's so heartbreaking that so many are hurting so deeply throughout this country.... anyway...take a look and if you can help...please do.  Crisis We have a crisis going on - Lend a Hand and Grateful Hearts are swamped with calls of need. While the economy may be picking up in other areas of Wisconsin, Juneau County is still feeling the choke hold. Couple that with summer being a time most do not have homelessness on their radar, and our names spreading as a place to go for help means we are now in a greater need ourselves than ever before for community support and fundraising. An example of some of the calls LAH has received thi

Is God a Republican or Democrat?

I'd venture a guess and say neither, but rather an Independent and one that is inside of each one of us no matter the labels we choose to carry. Much like I believe no matter what higher power each one of us chooses to believe in, God doesn't care about the other labels attached to individuals in modern society whether by choice or by judgment..be it - Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Agnostic....Heathen or Devout..the just or the lost...or any of the many other labels out there, of which there are more than most people even care to realize. I believe the same has been true since the beginning of time ...in ancient times...or even perhaps before the universe our planet that carries all of us on our adventure of life was ever created. I do believe God is saddened on how greed and Man's ego has destroyed the terrain of our landscape by forcing beliefs unto others and taking what could be stolen in the process and chaining in God's name the freewill in those who wo

Getting answers.......

Finally we're getting some answers in regard to my youngest and why he is catching everything under the sun for the last few years and why his immune system it out of whack. A reason that I had suspected since all of this started, he is in fact my mini-me. But at least now with him the trigger to all of this is starting to take shape, and when looking back to my own childhood...knowing what I know that my doctors and parents didn't realize at the time, is that Kyle and I also shared having suffered from childhood post traumatic stress disorder.  If you ever doubted that stress can wreck havoc on someone's health, then stop and pay attention - because now I know for sure it can and will to anyone suffering an unsurmountable amount of stress, especially when there's been a trauma.  It doesn't matter how old you are, or how society thinks children will always bounce back and can adjust, stress is a poison to all it touches.  Like me Kyle's system has always been
