I lied.
Some stories refuse to die quietly.
1. The Priests Who Got Away - a sampling.
Fr. Kunz bled out on a parish linoleum for keeping files on them and these men were handed their travelling papers - It was priests like these who utilized false organizations like Brother Paul's Mission on North Fox Island, Michigan. Is there proof the following did? No - but if they didn't, who all did, because many did-it existed for a reason
2. The Michigan Predators of North Fox Island Who Built the Private Runway
Francis Duffield Shelden –
Yale, oil money, private island, private airstrip. Flees country, reportedly.
Adam Starchild –
Wikipedia-
Dutch, trustee of the money, 1950 was arrested for having sexual relations with an underaged male who was 17, when he was 38. Vocal advocate for NAMBLA and author of books supporting that position.-

Brother Paul's Mission - pronographer of children, mailed the films worldwide.
Alleged recruiter/feeder for Brother Paul's
-camp operator who never saw a jail cell.
These men protected each other with lawyers, trusts, and trans-Atlantic handshakes while Michigan shrugged.
Europe 1976–1996: The Real Networks a Fugitive Like Shelden Could Walk Straight Into
When Francis Shelden landed in Amsterdam in 1976, he didn’t arrive in a hostile environment. He arrived in the middle of what many pedophile activists openly called their golden age.
The Netherlands, in particular, was the undisputed European capital of organised “boy-love” advocacy. Laws were lax, the intellectual climate still carried over from the 1960s sexual revolution, and several well-connected groups operated completely in the open. A wealthy, English-speaking fugitive with a private fortune and a taste for publishing fit in perfectly.
Here are the main networks that were active and welcoming during the exact two decades Shelden lived freely in Amsterdam:
1. The Dutch Core (the epicentre)
- NVSH Pedophile Workgroups (run by psychologist Frits Bernard and senator Edward Brongersma)→ Regular meetings, newsletters, “scientific” research, and mutual support for hundreds of members.
- Brongersma himself was literally named in Shelden’s 1984 U.S. federal court trust documents as the chosen successor trustee for his hidden millions. That alone shows how deeply Shelden was plugged in.
2. Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE) – UK- Reportedly 300–400 members at its peak, affiliated for years with the National Council for Civil Liberties.
- Regular contact with the Dutch groups; members travelled back and forth until PIE was finally smashed in 1984.
4. German Activist Scene- DSAP and SchwuP groups inside the early Green Party circles.
- Helmut Kentler’s state-sponsored Berlin foster program (placing street kids with known pedophiles) ran unchecked until the 1990s.
Shelden’s actual role
He had the money, the publishing outlet (Pan), and the personal connection to Brongersma that gave him immediate legitimacy. That was more than enough to “disappear into his own utopia,” as one researcher put it. He never needed to run anything himself — the infrastructure was already there, and it welcomed English-speaking, well-off Americans.
What we still don’t have
Hard evidence that he was personally financing mail drops, flying boys around Europe, or wiring money to PIE . Those claims float around survivor forums and some podcasts, but nothing court-admissible has surfaced.
Bottom line
From 1976 until the mid-1990s, Western Europe — and especially the Netherlands — hosted a loose but very real confederation of pro-pedophile advocacy and commercial networks. Francis Shelden didn’t have to build anything new; he simply walked through an open door that was being held wide for men exactly like him.
Their harm spread with them.
