Lullaby of the Starlit Night on Christ's Birth Eve

Lullaby of the Starlit Night on Christ's Birth Eve

Hush now, young Mary, maiden of grace,

The night folds around you, a soft, holy place.

The stars breathe their blessing, the moon lends her glow,

And time drifts like water where Jordan’s waves flow.

So young and so fragile, yet steadfast and bright,

Your heart carries mercy through shadowed midnight.

The world may have wounded, but nothing can stain

The love that keeps rising like flax after rain.

Your heart remains pure, even as life takes form,

Your womb softly breathing a new, sacred storm.

From innocence, healing and tenderness start

Redemption is born in the curve of your heart.

No mother beside you, no sisterly hand,

Yet Sarah and Rebecca walk close through this land.

Rachel, long yearning, and Leah in prayer,

Their ancient compassion is gathered round there.

Selene keeps her vigil, her silver wings wide,

With owls of the midnight who circle and guide.

Breathe with the starlight, sigh with the trees,

Your very humanity brings heaven to its knees.

Hush, gentle mother, when old sorrows wake,

Love cradles each tremor that passes your wake.

You are not broken, but burning with grace—

God wears your heartbeat and borrows your face.

Sleep, little life, in her sheltering care,

The dawn is approaching with gold in the air.

By tomorrow night, through a mother’s love so deep,

New life will be breathing its light through the land’s sleep.

Hush now, young Mary... the heavens draw near,

Where human tenderness makes redemption appear.
