Selene, Till Dark is Done - The Moon Owl’s Bedtime Poem

Selene, Till Dark is Done

The Moon Owl’s Bedtime Poem

Up where the moon hangs bright and round,
flies Selene, who never makes a sound.
White as new snow, soft as a dream,
her feathers shine with a silver moon-gleam.

She listens for tears in the deep dark night,
for tiny hearts trembling with fright.
If a bad dream dares sneak into your bed,
Selene is there, with a tilt of her head.

She catches your tears on her wings spread wide,
then wraps that bad dream deep inside.
She squeezes it tight till it drifts away,
and kisses your cheek with soft moon-spray.

When night is ending and morning peeks near,
Selene leaves two treasures, so sweet and clear:
one, a thread of loving silver light,
and one perfect feather, glowing snowy-white.

So close your eyes now, my dear little one,
snuggle down safe until night is gone.
Selene is wise, her heart warm and true,
watching over you till the sun shines through.

Goodnight, sweet dreams, my brave little one,
the snow owl guards till the dark is done.
Dream happy, dream big, let your heart take flight,
and dance with Selene in the soft silver light.
